Directly responsible to the Haviland Recreation Commission and must maintain professional relationship with Haviland Grade School.

Duties and Responsibilities: The After School Care Director creates a safe, enriching environment for students who need care after school hours. This position is responsible for organizing and implementing activities for grade school age students of Haviland Grade School. After school care is offered Monday-Thursday from 3:45-5:30 on regular school days. There will be no after school care on Fridays, or half-days of school.

Specifically, the After School Care Director is responsible to:

1. Assume responsibility for organizing, scheduling and communicating all After School Care activities.

2. Hire support staff for after school care.

3. Keep records of staff so they can be compensated.

4. Maintain sign up sheets, fees, and enrollment information.

5. Follow discipline policy.

6. Keep supplies for after school care activities organized.

7. Requisition supplies as needed and maintain receipts.

8. Leave areas cleaned, locked, and lights off when after school care is over.

9. Coordinate transportation as needed for activities.

10. Determine if weather conditions impair the safety of the participants. Call off or reschedule activities if necessary.

11. Work with Haviland Grade School to reserve areas needed for activities.

12. Maintain a professional relationship with Haviland Grade School and its employees.

13. Represent Haviland Recreation Commission in matters relating to the position. Attend necessary meetings to determine schedules and new or revised guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. Desire to work with children and recreation.

2. Ability to coordinate a variety of activities.

3. Available most school days throughout the year.

4. Ability to represent the district in an appropriate, professional manner.

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable. Physical Requirements of the Job: Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
